The latest installment of the AMG Dirty Dozen features a quartet of titles beginning with the letter M, hence the alliterative title above. This batch of flicks includes a pseudo-knockoff of Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls, a fun post-apocalyptic message movie, a documentary of an evangelist-turned-b-movie-star and t.v. movie directed by a young pre-Halloween John Carpenter. The mea culpas amongst these reviews would be the review of Mannaja, which makes the mistake of getting too hung up on “originality” in the discussion of a spaghetti western, and Someone’s Watching Me write-up, which unfairly critiques the film for its small-screen limitations. By the way, Black Sunday – a thriller, not to be confused with the Mario Bava film of the same name – is deserving of rediscovery and gets a big personal recommendation from Your Humble Reviewer.
