REACH FOR THE SKY:

THE CHANGE ANTHOLOGY

on December 4th 2015

Reach for the Sky: The Change Anthology offers the very best of Change, the innovative studio group masterminded by Jacques Fred Petrus.

Change launched Luther Vandross’ solo career with the Top 20 U.K. hit Searching and the number one dance classic The Glow of Love.

This two disc, 28-track collection spans the group’s six albums from 1980–1985 and includes every single that made the pop, R&B, and dance charts in the U.K. and U.S., plus an exclusive bonus remix of It’s A Girl’s Affair by Mike Maurro. Reach for the Sky features a 24-page booklet with rare photos, plus new interviews and a track-by-track commentary by those who helped define Change’s biggest hits, including Jocelyn Brown (A Lover’s Holiday), Diva Gray (Paradise), James “Crabbe” Robinson (The Very Best In You), and Deborah Cooper (Change of Heart).

Newly remastered from the original masters and adorned with Greg Porto’s iconic artwork throughout, including this release’s front cover (previously only seen on the group’s 1984 Italian greatest hits LP sleeve) Reach for the Sky will lead Change lovers to paradise.

CELEBRATING THE SEASONS OF CHANGE

Fred knew what he was doing when he came up with Change,” says Tanya Willoughby, who co-wrote some of Change’s earliest chart-topping dance hits.  “He told me, Change represents everything that’s new and it represents the change in your pocket. If you always keep change in your pocket, you will have money.”  Petrus struck a gold mine with Change.  Though Petrus first emerged with studio projects like Macho (I’m a Man, 1978), Peter Jacques Band (Fire Night Dance, 1979), and Revanche (Music Man, 1979), Change became the producer’s signature group, the one that turned his Little Macho Music production house into a cottage industry of irresistible hooks and rhythms.…..
CHANGE.  It’s one syllable that connotes endless possibilities.  In the lexicon of dance music, it’s a concept with a cast of thousands.  An untold number of vocalists, musicians, songwriters, arrangers, and producers transformed Change over the course of six albums from 1980–1985.  Masterminded by Jacques Fred Petrus, Change filtered the qualities that shaped New York’s vibrant dance music scene through an Italian sensibility that ultimately spawned some of the funkiest music ever recorded.….
