Just a quick post to let anyone interested know that Schlockmania has made a few appearances recently on the High Bias Mixtape podcast, an ongoing music-themed chat session put together by Brent Alan James and Neil Butler. The majority of the podcast is devoted to roundtable chats by a group of friends who all knew each other in high school and look back at how their mid-’80s teenage years shaped their love of alternative rock and their attitudes towards pop culture in general.
Schlockmania has popped up on the last few episodes for a special segment devoted to deep cut fare from the new wave era. His guest segment on the most recent episode focuses on a trio of tunes from the films Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Looker and Absolute Beginners. You can check out that episode here:
Schlockmania made his debut on the prior episode, discussing a trio of lesser-known favorites by the Monroes, Robert Palmer and Kim Wilde. You can listen to that episode here:
All episodes of the High Bias Mixtape podcast can also be found on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Instagram. However you choose to access it, it’s a worthwhile listen for ’80s babies with an appreciation for alt-rock, ’80s electronica, Brit-pop and other related styles.
