THE AMG DIRTY DOZEN: 01/20/12 — Andy Warhol, A Couple Of Slashers & Blaxploitation On P.C.P.
A new year brings a new set of opportunities to check out vintage schlock. With that in mind, check out the latest installment of the AMG Dirty Dozen. The latest dozen reviews from Your Humble Reviewer’s All Movie Guide review repertoire (2002 vintage, to be specific) cover a diverse array of cult-cinema viewing material: there’s one of the strangest Disney movies ever made, the best of the Andy Warhol-sanctioned underground comedies, a film whose blend of blaxploitation and kung-fu rivals Black Belt Jones and a Rudy Ray Moore vehicle that is one of the two or three most synapse-frying films ever made. Mea Culpa Department: the review of Death Weekend is overtly harsh – the film’s slow-burn approach has grown on Your Humble Reviewer quite a bit.
