Schlock-Wire: Severin Films Brings Us A Double-Shot Of Softcore JOY On May 25th
Though they have branched out into more conventional fare in the last few years, Severin Films began their DVD-releasing career as specialists in Euro-erotica and continue to do this sort of material with great skill. They've got another two gems in the pipeline with their forthcoming releases of Joy and Joy And Joan, a pair of French softcore efforts that were pay-cable staples in the mid-to-late 1980's. Both titles will feature new anamorphic transfers - each will be uncut for the first time in the U.S. - and the Joy disc also features a rare interview with its star, Claudia Udy. Read on for all sleek, softcore details...JOY AND JOY & JOAN RESTORED, INCLUDING FOOTAGE NEVER BEFORE SEEN IN AMERICAAfter a triumphant run with Hardware and the Inglorious Bastards Blu Ray releases last year, Severin Films returns to its roots with a pair of stellar sexsploitation classics available on May 25th.French women have often led the way when it comes to erotic literature. Following in the esteemed footsteps of Anaïs Nin, Emmanuelle Arsan and Pauline Reage, Joy Laurey wrote a series of novels exploring one woman’s voyage of sexual discovery which became an international sensation. And emulating the success of Emanuelle and The Story Of O, film adaptations were soon to follow. Joy and Joy & Joan were huge hits on their release in the early 80s but for the first time in America they can now be seen in their uncut and uncensored original French versions. For all previous releases of these films in the US have been cut to bits: a massive 12 minutes in the case of Joy and 5 minutes in the case of Joy & Joan. Both films have been fully restored from the original negatives. In addition for fans of Serge Bergon’s Joy (not directed by Serge In The Folds Of The Flesh Bergonzelli as is often erroneously reported) we tracked down the delightful Claudia Udy, Joy herself, for her first interview on the subject since she quit the business over 15 years ago. Both Joy and Joy & Joan will be available for pre-order on Amazon.com shortly.

The JOY That Started It All
Based On The Best-Selling Erotic Memoir
That Shocked The World
Her name was ‘Joy Laurey’, the pseudonym of the French-American supermodel whose 1981 autobiography became the most scandalous erotic memoir of the decade. Two years later, executive producer Benjamin Simon (Memoirs Of A French Whore) brought Joy’s scorching saga to the screen and launched an all-new series of sensual movie classics. Succulent Canadian starlet Claudia Udy (Dragonard) leaves nothing to the imagination as the globetrotting celebrity whose passion for men, women and strangers – in any combination – shatters every sexual taboo. Joy has been now completely restored from a print discovered in the screening room of a Paris brothel and is presented uncut and uncensored – including the complete ‘Secret Orgy Dungeon’ sequence – for the first time ever in America.EXTRAS:• Reflections With Joy – Interview with star Claudia Udy
